Elene Kobulashvili

A native of Tbilisi, Georgia, Elene Kobulashvili is best known in her country as a pianist performing a wide variety of solo and chamber music repertoire. She is a winner of national and international solo and chamber music competitions, such as International Young Pianists Competition “F. Chopin” (1997, Novi Sad, Yugoslavia); S. Tsintsadze Chamber Music Competition, where she also received a special prize from the musical foundation “SOLO” (2000, Tbilisi, Georgia); Special Award for the best performance of R. Schumann’s work at Tbilisi State Conservatory Piano Competition.

Kobulashvili participated in international festivals such as “Musikfestival der Jugend” 2002 in Dossenheim, Germany and Second International Festival “Moscow Meets Friends” in 2005, Moscow. In 2015-2016 she worked as an invited collaborative pianist in the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra and participated in performances and festivals both in Georgia and abroad.

As a student, Kobulashvili was awarded the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation’s Scholarship in 2005. She received Georgian President’s Scholarship of Excellence in 2001 and 2005. Kobulshvili regularly participated in the Tbilisi Contemporary Music Festival, premiering works of contemporary Georgian and Western composers.

In 2013-2015, Elene Kobulashvili cooperated with the Kote Marjanishvili State Academic Drama Theatre as a member of Klezmer Music Band, performing a variety of Klezmer repertoire. In 2021, Kobulashvili graduated with a Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano from Michigan State University. As a Master’s student, she has participated in many recitals as a member of the MSU Wind Symphony Orchestra.

Currently, Kobulashvili is pursuing her DMA degree in piano performance under the guidance of Deborah Moriarty at Michigan State University, where she concurrently serves as a graduate assistant.
