How do you see art connected to nature?
Trying to draw parallels between nature and art assumes the two are separate. I tend to see art not as separate from nature, rather as nature reflecting on itself through a human body. Creating art is simply a process of listening and responding.
What inspired you to create your piece?
This piece is a duet between myself and a plant. I wanted to explore the relationship between nature, technology, and music. This piece comments on the constructed divisions between the natural and the unnatural.
How does engaging in your artistic passion improve your wellbeing?
My soul is full of music, and through it I can express myself. I am an artist because it allows me to feel a greater capacity for emotions. When music becomes overwhelming, I garden, and it helps me remember to listen and breathe.
